The Lamp Post is a collection of quotes, news articles, opinion pieces or blog posts that I found interesting and worthy of attention.

If you see something that you believe should be in The Lamp Post, tweet it to me at @WardrobeDoor with the hashtag #LampPost.

Christianity Today: This is one of best articles on transgender from a Christian perspective. It is written by one of the leading researchers on the topic, who happens to be a believer. If you are struggling with this issue, read this.

Washington Post: Millions of people shamed this couple for upstaging someone else’s wedding. The only problem—they got it all wrong. It seems I have to say this repeatedly, but just because you saw it online does not make it true.

Acton: Despite what you may have heard, New York City is post-secular with a growing Christian community.

Christianity Today: I wrestled with this with recently as we are expected our fourth child in September. Everyone says, “As long as they are healthy,” but what if the child isn’t healthy?

Washington Post: If you want to know why so many people are skeptical of scientific reports and the news stories that discuss them, look no further than this. A study made the rounds recently that said chocolate was healthy, except the whole thing was faked and nobody investigated it at all.

Wired: Can an algorithm determine the most creative painting ever?

Washington Post: My friend Marty Duren had an excellent piece in the Washington Post about the conflicted and confused message sent by patriotic worship services. As someone who grew up seeing a teddy bear dressed like Uncle Sam on our communion table, I can definitely relate.
