No, Kermit Gosnell is not an outlier or an isolated case

This is how abortion advocates are spinning the murder conviction of abortionist Kermit Gosnell.

He’s just one abortion provider. It’s not like what he did is common or anything.

That’s the only way they can proceed, since their proposed “solutions” lie in direct contrast to the grand jury report in the Gosnell case. NARAL, Planned Parenthood and other extreme pro-abortion groups and individuals argue this demonstrates why abortion providers should have less restrictions on them, a decrease in government oversight.

The non-partisan grand jury, with a diverse opinion on abortion, however, declared the atrocities were allowed to happen and continue to happen because pro-choice politicians intentionally looked the other way when damaging information came to light and essentially refused to inspect Gosnell’s disgusting “clinic.”

The only way their argumentation sounds remotely reasonable is if Gosnell actually is who those passionately in favor of abortion say he is — just one rogue abortionist with no connection to other abortion supporters or providers. Their problem? That’s not the caseAt all.

Earlier this year, a 29-year-old kindergarten teacher died from abortion complications in Maryland. An abortion clinic in Michigan was shut down, after police found, in part, “dried bloody handprints on the ultrasound machine and smears and blood splatters on the walls and floors throughout the business.”

Last year, two women were rushed to the hospital from a clinic in Alabama, which led to an investigation and eventually closing of that clinic.

A New Jersey abortionists took women across state lines to perform late term abortions, botched them and then was uncooperative with hospital staff after he dropped off an injured patient. It is difficult to read this horror story of abortions gone in Florida.

In Florida, there are five separate cases of abortion doctors doing much of the same things as Gosnell — injuring pregnant women, abusing patients, killing babies born alive, and using the office as a place to run illegal drugs.

A Planned Parenthood clinic in Delaware was forced to close its doors after five botched abortions in less than five weeks. Two former employees reported the clinic, saying, “I couldn’t tell you how ridiculously unsafe it was.” Who is in charge of inspecting abortion clinics in Delaware? Planned Parenthood, themselves.

But, again, abortion supporters are suggesting the problem that led to Gosnell’s murders was too much regulation of abortion clinics. They and their political allies rebuff any attempts at further regulating abortion clinics, even to bring them up to par with other medical facilities where surgeries take place.

While they all seek to distance themselves from the visible cruelty and inhumanity of Gosnell, they continue to support the very thought processes that made his crimes justifiable in his mind.

If you would have an “unlimited abortion franchise,” this is what you will get. If you attempt to persuade people that “it may look like a baby, but it’s not really a baby,” at some point, someone will believe you. If you have media outlets referring to murdered newborn babies as fetuses, refusing to refer to them as what they are — babies, some will get the message.

They will say they were glad to see Gosnell come to justice, but the only crime that he committed in their mind was having a disgusting clinic and giving the pro-life side an opening. If abortion advocates had their way, Gosnell would have never faced a trial. After all, according to a Planned Parenthood spokeswoman, deciding whether a newborn baby will live or be left to die is a “decision [that] should be between the patient and the health care provider.”

Gosnell’s crimes have revealed the ugly truth behind the rationale for abortion. It is absurd to argue that personhood is determined solely by location (whether the infant is barely inside or outside the birth canal) and the preferences of another (does the woman want to “keep” the baby). Yet, this is where we are left with the current abortion laws and logic.

How can you be surprised that someone would kill a child just outside of the womb, when they have been conditioned to believe, contrary to their own medical education, that just a moment earlier, when the child was inside the womb, it was only a “clump of cells”? The atrocities outlined in this trial are the direct result of the dehumanization of life in the womb.

Kermit Gosnell is not an outlier within the abortion industry. He is the end result.
