The One Ring is back

…and Peter Jackson will be in the director’s chair.

After his fued with New Line Cinemas over money from the LOTR trilogy, Jackson was told that by the studio last week that he was “no longer needed.”

But the screen rights to The Hobbit will soon fall to producer Saul Saentz, who owns the rights to Tolkien Enterprises, and he said, “[The Hobbit] will definitely be shot by Peter Jackson.”

Along with The Hobbit, Jackson expects to make a “bridge film” to connect Tolkien’s two novels most likely based on the extensive information Tolkien placed in the appendages.
